Method

  1. Required equipment: A large mixing bowl, a pot, a pan or grill, a grater, and a spatula.
  2. Grate the onion using the fine side of the grater and squeeze out the excess juice with your hands.
  3. Place the ground beef, grated onion, salt, pepper, and cumin into the bowl and knead for 5 minutes until well combined.
  4. Place the meatball mixture into the refrigerator and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Place the butter in the pot and wait until it melts over medium heat.
  6. Add the bulgur to the pot and sauté it by stirring for 2-3 minutes until the color slightly changes.
  7. Add 360 ml (double the amount) of hot water, cover the lid, and cook on low heat until the water is absorbed.
  8. Take walnut-sized pieces from the meat mixture and shape them into round, flat patties with your hands.
  9. Heat the grill or pan over high heat and arrange the meatballs.
  10. Cook the meatballs for 4-5 minutes on each side, flipping them until they are fully cooked through and browned.
  11. Add the tomatoes and peppers to the grill and char them until they soften and show light grill marks.
